Value of Life

All human life has value. Does it? We must save a human life at any cost? Must we? Is this just some idea we dreamed up so that other people will feel compelled to value our lives?

I’m sure we all know, or have known, people who are a complete drain on the energies of others. People who contributed little to their families or communities. People who drowned themselves in poor choices and addictions yet expected others to repeatedly bail them out. People who thought that someone else was always the cause of their afflictions, that it was never their own actions that created their troubles. People that we actively sought to avoid lest we be drawn into their self-created web of sorrows.

For me, all human life is not valuable. I value energy, constructive energy, energy that creates, energy that gives energy to others. Frankly, I have zero time for those who are simply here to take. People who suck the energy from others, then don’t appreciate the gift they’ve taken.

In this life you have to create value in order to have value. Value does not have to mean wealth. Value is the creation of constructive energy that helps to fuel the journey of others. Create energy and you create value. These are the people we must nourish. We spend far too much effort trying to help those who refuse to help themselves, especially those who believe this is the job of others, not their own. The younger we teach our children that they must earn their value in this world, that they must create that which is to be special about themselves, the richer their lives will be.
